Spotlight: FreeTheBoy, Ghana's Rising Star Blends Hip Hop and Afro Rhythms to Create Captivating Music


McBright Aseye Freeman, also known as FreeTheBoy, is an aspiring rapper, singer, and songwriter residing in Hohoe, Volta Region of Ghana. His music style combines the captivating elements of Hip Hop and Afro rhythms, drawing inspiration from African American musical traditions. 

As a solo artist, he primarily writes about his personal experiences while incorporating his aspirations and thoughts for a brighter future. With a dedicated focus on honing his skills, Freeman has spent the past six years refining his craft before entering the market.



On January 10th, 2020, FreeTheBoy, previously known as Freeman, released his debut EP album titled "1 Man 1000." This project showcased his versatility by featuring songs from various genres such as hip-hop, afro beat, and afro dancehall. Since then, he has continued to impress with his remarkable works. On July 25th, 2021, he unveiled his second project called the "EPITOME EP." 

This release demonstrated his ability to venture beyond his comfort zone of hip-hop rap and explore the fast-growing genres of drills and trap music in the country. 

While collaborating with other artists on tracks like "Sorry" featuring Tony2Hotti and "wu-nye-g3-kill-me" featuring Demy Gee, Freeman showcased his talents as a solo artist in his Afrobeat love song "Su Mor Mi."



Currently, Freeman has released his latest single "WOKPORGE," which not only features talented artists from his hometown of Hohoe but also introduces a fresh sound called Gbedu. You can find his music under the name FreeTheBoy on all major platforms.
