After taking a hiatus from music and social media, acclaimed Ghanaian hip-hop artist Ko-Jo Cue has officially announced his comeback with the release of an EP "I'm Back" on November 16th.
Ko-Jo Cue, known for his intricate storytelling and lyricism, last released the EP "21 Memory Lane" in 2021 before stepping back from the public eye. But after a two-year break from releasing music and a seven-month break from social media, the rapper resurfaced this year on the song "Free Throw" featuring Joey B.
In a video posted to Instagram, Ko-Jo Cue mirrored basketball great Michael Jordan's famous 1995 comeback ad, hinting that he is ready to return to the game. "The unbeaten run continues! 4th Quarter Cue! Jump Ball in 7 days! I'm Back EP ... Nov 16th. Stay Tuned!" he captioned the post.
The announcement comes on the heels of Ko-Jo Cue's recent standout participation in the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher, where he represented Ghana on the global stage. It also follows the initial teaser for his highly-anticipated "For My Brothers" concert set for December.
Hailed as one of Ghana's top hip-hop talents, Ko-Jo Cue first broke out in 2017 with his joint album "Pen & Paper" with fellow rapper Shaker. His introspective style and fluid fusion of hip-hop, highlife, and afrobeats elements drew comparisons to rap greats like Nas, Jay-Z and Obrafour.
With eager fans awaiting his comeback after years away, Ko-Jo Cue's new "I'm Back" EP promises to be a triumphant return for the respected lyricist. The project looks to pick up where he left off and re-cement his status as one of Ghana's most talented hip-hop storytellers.
