In a recent interview, rap icon Jay-Z finally shared the heartwarming story behind his daughter Blue Ivy's unusual name.
Speaking with Gayle King, Jay-Z revealed that he and wife Beyoncé originally planned to name their daughter Brooklyn. But that changed after seeing her sonogram images.
"We was calling her Blueberry, like 'Look at that little blueberry,'" Jay-Z explained. "For nine months we were like 'Our little blueberry.' So we just took the 'berry' off and she became Blue."
Beyond the name's origin, Jay-Z beams with pride seeing 11-year-old Blue Ivy following in her parents' footsteps. After joining Beyoncé onstage for her Renaissance Tour, Blue's talents made waves online.
"I still get goosebumps seeing her perform," Jay-Z gushed. "You can't write a better script."
