Nigerian afropop hitmaker Mr Eazi recently took to social media to reminisce about his first brush with world renowned performance artist Marina Abramović. He shared the significant memory along with his excitement over Abramović later attending his own album art exhibit.
In a Facebook post, Mr Eazi recounted seeing Abramović appear in rap legend Jay-Z’s artsy 2013 “Picasso Baby” music video. He vividly remembered feeling awestruck witnessing the living legend interact with Jay-Z in her signature avant-garde style.
Years later in 2023, Mr Eazi expressed stunned disbelief that the same Marina Abramović made an appearance at his “The Evil Genius” album art showcase held at Gallery 1957 in Accra, Ghana. He enthusiastically stated “God Is Great!!” at the chance to host an icon like Abramović at his exhibit.
For the Nigerian-born award-winning musician, the collaboration represented a meaningful full circle moment as an African artist now connecting with talents worldwide through his music.
Beyond reminiscing on this milestone, Mr Eazi also teased more new music coming soon, mentioning his forthcoming album “The Evil Genius.”
