Wiyala's Yaga Yaga Talent Show Returns with GHS 5,000 in Cash Prizes

Budding artists in Ghana's Upper West Region are getting a chance to showcase their skills and win big, thanks to singer Wiyala's Yaga Yaga talent competition. The 2023 edition is offering GHS 5,000 (around $500 USD) in total cash prizes.

According to an announcement, auditions for Yaga Yaga will take place on December 2nd at First and Last Gardens in Wa. The finals are set for December 30th. Singers, musicians, dancers, comedians, rappers, poets and other talents are encouraged to pick up entry forms at local radio stations before the November 30th deadline.

Ghanaian music star Wiyala created the competition in 2022 with Upper West PRTV to provide opportunities for local artists. She explained her inspiration: "When I was growing up, there were few opportunities for talents in my community to showcase their art. Now myself and the team at Upper West PRTV are giving local talent that opportunity."

This year's event offers bigger prizes and allows performers of all disciplines to compete. Wiyala hopes it will give artists valuable experience for potential national contests.

The inaugural 2022 event was met with enthusiasm, showing the demand for platforms celebrating Upper West's abundant talents. With the stakes higher this year, excitement is already building for the 2023 edition.

Aspiring artists hoping to get their big break can now set their sights on Wiyala's Yaga Yaga competition. The chance to gain exposure and take home GHS 5,000 awaits!
