Rising Ghanaian afropop sensation Camidoh recently shared his battles with trauma and mental health issues in the public eye. During an interview on TV3’s New Day, he got candid about the critical role therapy plays in his life.
"I was almost getting over my PTSD and recently I got involved in two major road accidents that really became very traumatic for me. So I had to take my therapy sessions more seriously, now I do two in a week,” Camidoh confessed.
The “Sugarcane” singer has suffered two terrible car crashes this past year which exacerbated his existing PTSD. To properly care for his mental health, he started committing to therapy twice weekly.
Camidoh explained that between past traumas and his recent accidents, maintaining his mental wellbeing has been incredibly challenging. But despite stigma, he recognizes the value of professionally caring for his mind.
“It’s really difficult for me because as a creative who is willing to work, these things held me back,” he shared. "But the therapy helps me process my feelings and stress so I can keep pursuing my passion.”
By opening up about something so personal, Camidoh sets an important example on prioritizing mental health. His honesty can inspire others coping with trauma to similarly invest time in therapy for their wellbeing. Kudos to Camidoh for this act of vulnerability that can impact so much good.
